Dr. Michael Devoy is the Chief Medical Officer of Bayer AG, overseeing medical strategies, risk management, quality assurance, and compliance to ensure the safety and efficacy ofthe company’s pharmaceutical products. Dr. Devoy joined Schering AG in 2005 as Senior VP of Global Medical Development.
He studied Medicine and Pharmacology at University College London, earning a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MB, BS), and is a member of the Royal College of Physicians in London. His extensive experience includes Clinical Development, International Medical Affairs, and Pharmacovigilance, beginning his career at Glaxo Group Research.
Dr. Devoy is deeply interested in ethical challenges in biology, medicine, and technology, leading to the establishment of the Bayer Bioethics Council, which provides expertise in bioethics. He also founded the Bayer Climate Change & Health Science Forum to tackle health challenges posed by climate change and enhance global health resilience.
Dr. Devoy actively contributes to the Global Coalition on Aging (GCOA) by promoting healthy aging initiatives, advocating for improved healthcare access for older adults, supporting the UN Decade of Healthy Aging, and engaging in research to create age-friendly environments that address the challenges of longevity. He also plays a strategic role in Bayer's collaboration with 7wire Ventures and Samsung, focusing on initiatives that enhance patient health and quality of life. Additionally, he supports the AYA–Integrated Healthcare Initiative in Ghana, collaborating with various organizations to improve cardiovascular disease management. Furthermore, Dr. Devoy is a member of Lakestar's Advisory Board, where he participates in identifying and supporting innovative and successful European technology start-ups.
