
Professor Adrian Hayter MBBS BSc Pharmacol AKC MRCGP I have been a GP for nearly 30 yrs working clinically at the Runnymede Medical Practice as a GP partner. I have held leadership roles at local and national level working in commissioning roles in Primary Care Groups Trusts and as a Chair of a Clinical Commissioning Group for Windsor Ascot and Maidenhead turning it from an organisation rated as requiring improvement to a rating of outstanding over a 5 yrs period.
In 2019 I was appointed to National Clinical Director for Older People for NHS England (the first GP to hold the role). I was the clinical lead for the Ageing Well Programme and supported national policy for older people through the COVID Pandemic. I sat on the SAGE subcommittee for people receiving social care and was the
non aged based clinical lead for the vaccination programme leading the Covid vaccination in care home programme. I supported new clinical policy writing the clinical operating policy for Virtual Wards and supported the modelling for the role out of Virtual wards across England.
In 2024 I took up the role of Medical Director for Clinical Policy at the Royal College Of General Practitioners and support a network of
around 200 GPs who support clinical policy across the life course. As Medical Director I am responsible for supporting the Clinical Priority
for the College which is Preventive Medicine.
I am a member of the WHO Clinical Consortium for Healthy Ageing and a lecturer in Gerontology at Singapore University of Social Science. I am currently in my second term as a Non Executive Director for Buckinghamshire Healthcare Trust, a Community Acute and Specialist NHS Trust and a Trustee of the Thames Valley Hospice. I volunteer as Chief Medical Officer for the Catholic Association a Charity which organises an annual trip to France each year.
