Peter Mangan is the Founder and CEO of Freebird Club, a pioneering social travel club for over 50s. Freebird is designed to empower older adults to travel, connect, meet and stay with one another as part of a trusted membership community. Peter founded Freebird Club having been inspired by his father's experience in befriending fellow seniors who stayed at his holiday home in Ireland. Freebird’s social mission involves addressing loneliness in later life, along with the unmet needs of older adults who may want to travel, but lack companions or the confidence to go alone.
With over 20 years’ prior management experience across finance, music, research, and academia - including as Senior Manager for Research & Innovation at University College Dublin - Peter is a multi-award winning social entrepreneur. His work has been recognized by top awards from the European Commission, European Investment Bank and the UN World Tourism Organisation. He has also served as coach and mentor to other social innovators. Peter holds BComm and Master’s degrees from UCD, and a Social Innovation diploma from Católica Lisbon. He is passionate about promoting active, healthy, and joyful ageing.
