
Dr. Liem Nguyen has served as Programme Manager for Social Welfare at the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) since October 2024. Trained as a sociologist and demographer, his research spans health equity, social determinants of health, health systems, digital health, migration, active ageing, and disability-inclusive development. His work is centered on advancing health and social protection for vulnerable populations, including older persons, marginalized migrants, ethnic minorities, residents of hard-to-reach areas, women and children, and persons with disabilities. He currently leads and serves as principal investigator for several key social welfare initiatives at ERIA, including the Longitudinal Study on Ageing and Health (LSAH) in the Philippines and Vietnam; Financial Sustainability of Integrated Care for Older Persons in ASEAN (FISCO); Catalyzing Outreach Support for Persons with Functional Difficulties in ASEAN (COPE); and ASEAN for Maternal Mental Health (HARMONY).
