
Professor John Deanfield CBE is Professor of Cardiology at University College London and a global leader in cardiovascular health and prevention. His pioneering research has reframed cardiovascular disease as a lifelong process, emphasizing early intervention and “Investing in your Arteries” to maintain health across the lifespan. As the UK government’s first Champion for Personalised Prevention, he has shaped national strategies that integrate prevention into every stage of care. He founded the National Institute for Cardiovascular Outcomes Research (NICOR), advancing the use of real-world data to improve health outcomes. Professor Deanfield also serves as Chair of the International Scientific Committee at the Springer Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Center in Berlin and as a Trustee of Our Future Health, the UK’s flagship population health programme.
