Daniel Murphy is an Insurance & Asset Management Industry Specialist at the World Economic Forum. He leads initiatives at the intersection of insurance, risk, and climate resilience, and manages partnerships with the Forum’s global network of insurance, reinsurance, and asset management partners. His work includes advancing innovative products and collaborations to address the rising risks of extreme heat and related climate perils, culminating in the white paper Insuring Against Extreme Heat: Navigating Risks in a Warming World, launched at the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos 2025. Daniel has also supported the World Economic Forum’s Longevity Economy initiative and published extensively on climate resilience and adaptation, including the links between climate risk, aging, and longevity trends.
Previously, Daniel worked with Dalberg Advisors, where he focused on climate investment trends in Latin America, and at the Council on Foreign Relations, where he contributed to research on global trade and economic resilience. Earlier, as a Fulbright Fellow in Colombia, he supported multistakeholder efforts to strengthen urban climate resilience and mobilize investment in sustainable infrastructure as part of the Rockefeller Foundation’s 100 Resilient Cities initiative.
He holds a Master’s degree in International Economic Policy from Columbia University and a Bachelor’s degree in History and Economics from Bates College. Originally from Boston, Daniel now resides in Brooklyn, New York.
