Alan is a commercially astute Sales Director with a distinguished record of leading high-performing sales organizations across the medical devices, optical technology, and wearable technology sectors. He has held commercial roles at globally recognised companies, including Stryker, where he played a key role in driving UK surgeon adoption of several innovative and now routinely used Orthopaedic devices, as well as introducing surgical robotics for knee and hip replacement procedures.

At EssilorLuxottica, Alan has led strategic initiatives across flagship optical innovations, including the UK launch of Varilux XR progressive lenses and Transitions Gen S photochromic lenses. He has also advanced vision care excellence through the deployment of cutting-edge eye care instrument platforms such as the VR-800 automated phoropter and Visioffice X, enabling personalised eyewear solutions.

Alan currently oversees UK commercial operations for Nuance Audio, a pioneering initiative by EssilorLuxottica that integrates invisible hearing technology into fashionable eyewear. This breakthrough solution is designed to reduce stigma and enhance comfort for individuals with mild to moderate hearing loss, placing Alan at the forefront of innovation at the intersection of vision and hearing.

In addition to his role at Nuance Audio, Alan provides strategic input into the commercial rollout of Ray-Ban Meta, Meta’s AI-powered smart glasses developed in partnership with EssilorLuxottica. These glasses represent a significant leap forward in wearable technology, offering features such as real-time translation, AI vision, and seamless social media integration—delivering tangible benefits to consumers and redefining the smart eyewear category.

Throughout his career, Alan has consistently demonstrated the ability to translate complex technological advancements into market-ready solutions, driving widespread adoption, market expansion, and the development of high-performing sales teams committed to delivering best-in-class patient and consumer experiences.

He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Henley Business School, where he refined his expertise in strategic leadership, commercial innovation, and global market dynamics. His leadership philosophy is rooted in collaboration, accountability, and a relentless focus on building enduring relationships with healthcare professionals and delivering long-term value for all stakeholders.
