Dr Ritu Sadana is Head of the WHO Secretariat for the independent Council on the Economics of Health for All, that aims to reorient economic and financial policy to increase public and private investments for health in multiple sectors. She is also Head of WHO’s Ageing and Health Unit, where she led the research and writing of WHO’s Decade of Healthy Ageing: baseline report, coordinated the development of the first WHO Global Strategy on Ageing and Health including conceiving the objective towards the UN Decade of Healthy Ageing and co-authored the WHO World Report on Ageing and Health. She is Principle Investigator of WHO’s new area of work to Extend the Benefits of Healthy Ageing across the Life Course, involving policy makers, researchers and civil society in health, education, labor and social protection. Working with public and private sectors, Dr Sadana has championed health equity in low, middle- and high-income countries, earned her Doctor of Science degree from Harvard University and Master of Science degree from UCLA, and has expertise in economics, epidemiology, demography and health policy. She has over 200 scientific and policy publications.
